Dear Parents,

Sorry this letter is reaching you so late, but our week was filled with holiday excitement. First let me extend my sincerest thanks to the families who sent holiday goodies to be shared with our staff. They made for a beautiful dessert table at our staff holiday party and the left overs will be served throughout the week to our staff.  This past week was filled with the aroma of potato
pancakes, yummy ice cream sundaes, book exchanges and lots of pre-holiday festivities including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus!  A special thanks to everyone who brought in toys for our toy drive and gift cards. In all, you helped to provide a special holiday season for 8 families from our own school who are experiencing tough times.

During our time in the Science Lab this week, students learned about temperature. They learned the difference between hot and cold. They were able to identify pictures of hot things such as
pizza, coffee, the sun and cold things such as ice, ice cream and snow. They even compared
clothing by looking a pictures of kids in winter clothing and summer clothing to describe what to wear in warm and cold weather. Next they felt test tubes containing calcium chloride and water and were amazed that they were so hot.  Finally, each child have a mystery powder poured into their hands and when water was added, it created "snow'. Please keep in mind we will be operating over the next 2 weeks on a holiday schedule. This means that students and siblings who attend will participate in camp activities. Our holiday hours will be as follows:
