Weekly Letters From Brown Door

Dear Parents of Brown Door Students.
 
This week we had the topic of MY COUNTRY. We discussed what is our country, state, what are our symbols, and our flag. On Monday, the children drew our American flag in their journals. On Tuesday, the children had so much fun and spread so much love giving out their cards and bags for Valentine's Day.  On Wednesday, the children decorated "Our Country" using their imaginations. On Thursday, the children made the White House on black construction paper with white chalk. Friday, the children made "Our Country's Treat".  During the week they also enjoyed music with Mrs. Michelle and fitness class with Ms. Crissy.

Remember that the school is closed on Monday in observance of Presidents' Day

FEBRUARY 10, 2012 - BROWN DOOR Print E-mail

 

Dear Parents of Brown Door Students,
 
This week we had the topic of Valentine's and the letter V. The children learned how we can celebrate Valentine's day and with whom. They also learned words that start with the letter V such as Valentine, Van, Violet, and Volleyball. On Monday, the children traced/colored the letter V and practiced rhyming V words. They also had Spanish with Mrs. Olguita. On Tuesday, the children decorated their Valentine's Day bag and had Fitness Class with Ms. Crissy. On Wednesday, the children did the topic of Valentines in their journals. On Thursday, the children had fun in the field trip to Actors Playhouse. On Friday, the children made Valentine's vanilla sandwiches and made a beautiful valentines mosaic card with different colors. In the Science Lab this week, the children worked with primary colors mixing them together and creating new colors.

Reminder: In case you haven't, please bring in Valentine's Day cards by Monday, February 13, 2012 to share on Valentine's Day. Just cards with the child's name on it. You do not need to put names by "to". It is more special if they write their own names on them. Thank you.

Dear Parents of Brown Door Students
 
This week we had the topic of Groundhog Day and the letter N. The children learned about the groundhog and how it comes out on February 2nd to see if Spring is coming or six weeks of winter are left. The children learned words that start with the letter N such as Nicole, night, nose, and needle. On Monday, the children traced and colored the letter N and practiced writing rhyming words with the letter N. They also had Fitness Class. On Tuesday, the children drew a groundhog in their journals and had Spanish with Mrs. Olguita. On Wednesday, the children made a groundhog mask with a small paper plate. On Thursday, the children made a groundhog using an upside down heart. On Friday, the children made a Groundhog Snack using shredded wheat cereal, biscuits, brown sugar, margarine, and raisins. Yummy! Happy Groundhog day!

Dear Parents of Brown Door Students,

This week we had the topic of shapes and the letter S. The children reviewed the shapes and discussed shapes around us everyday. The children also learned words that start with the letter S such as Saraya, Sariah, Shoes, Scissors, and Star. On Monday, the children traced and colored the letter S and a sail boat and had Spanish with Mrs. Olguita. On Tuesday, the children traced, practiced cutting the square and decorated it with little squares. They also had Fitness class with Ms. Crissy. On Wednesday, the children made a person made out of shapes in their journals. On Thursday, the children did scribble art. They made swirls in black crayon and each hole is colored in a different color. On Friday, the children made Lambs Lemonade with vanilla yogurt, frozen lemonade, lemon lime soda, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles. Mmm Good!

 
Reminder: Homework is done in pencil only! Crayons are only used for coloring pages. No pens either. Thank you!

Dear Parents of Brown Door Students
 
This week we had the topic of Martin Luther King Jr. We spoke about what he did for this country, about his feelings, and family. The children really loved learning about him during circle time and story time. The letter of the week was the letter J. They learned words that start with the letter J such as Jelly, Jay, Jar, and Jump. On Monday, the children traced and colored the letter J and a jar and had Spanish with Mrs. Olguita. On Tuesday, the children traced and cut a silhouette of Martin Luther King Jr with chalk. In addition, the children had Fitness class with Ms. Crissy. On Wednesday, the children drew what they learned about Martin Luther King Jr in their journals. On Thursday, the children practiced writing more words with the letter J. On Friday, the children made a birthday cake for Martin Luther 
King, Jr.   HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. KING!!!!!!!!!!! In the Science Lab the children's lesson was on fire and air.
 
Next Student of the Week: Tyler Slade. Please bring in a poster of pictures of your family and child by TUESDAY to share with the class!

Reminder: Field Trip: will be an Animal Adventure since Mr. Al cancelled his Miami appearance.
