Creating Caring Citizens

We believe that children can learn to appreciate what they have and help others at a young age. Our students will have the opportunity to improve their community by performing act of kindness toward others.  Students will meet with Mrs. Davis in an assemblies and discuss ways they can help other.  Below are descriptions of some of our projects.

September 2005:  After discussing the effects of Hurricane Katrina, students launched a diaper drive.  Each child who brings is a pack of diapers will present them to their class at circle time.  Then students bring the diapers to Mrs. Davis.  Each student will get a hug and their name on a paper heart as a thank you for sharing their heart with someone else.

October 2005:  Trick or Treat is a holiday that is enjoyed by kids all over.  Kids who are homeless cannot enjoy the simple pleasure of a bag of candy.  Therefore, our students will bring in candy and decorate bags that will go to homeless kids at local shelters.

In November 2005, our school provided a complete Thanksgiving meal and groceries for a week to an elderly disabled couple who had enough love in their hearts to take in three teen boys.

In December 2005, our school collected store gift cards to give to teens in foster care so that they would have a happy holiday season.

In February, our students made Valentine Cards for sick children in hospitals.

In June our students made postcards with pictures to send to our SUPERHEROES serving in the military.
